TEEN THERAPY

Adolescent-Teen-Therapy-Whitni-Toson-LPC

Let’s face it, being a teenager can be tough. Going through physical and emotional changes, developing your own identity, battling social media, all while trying to balance academics puts a lot of stress on adolescents. The good thing is you don’t have to go through it alone.

This is the best time to learn about yourself, build your self-esteem and confidence, and develop tools that will make you resilient in life. Let me work with you and your adolescent to improve their teenage years and make the growing pains less painful.

When working with adolescents I understand and value parental insight, however, it is important that boundaries around parent and therapist communication are in place.  The goal is for the client to feel safe and trust the therapist during their therapeutic process. If the client is open to inviting their parent to provide insight, I do try to have the parent join for a few minutes every 2-3 sessions. I just ask parents to work collaboratively to ensure that their child is getting the most they can out of therapy.
